Gilmour Academy Swimming Sweeps Lake Catholic

GATES MILLS, Ohio — Gilmour Academy's swimming program turned in dominant performances Tuesday, sweeping both the varsity boys and varsity girls competitions against Lake Catholic in a dual meet held Jan. 6.

The Gilmour girls earned a 108-51 victory, while the boys matched that output with a 108-55 win, showcasing depth and balance across the lineup.

On the girls side, Gilmour opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay and continued to control the scoreboard with individual wins from Tinsley Zhang '26 in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, Mikaela Iskra '28 in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, Evelyn Myers '28 in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and Lorelai Kaufman '28 in both the 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. The Lancers also claimed relay wins in the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

The Gilmour boys matched the momentum, winning the 200-yard medley relay to start the meet. Andrew Varanese '27 captured first place in both the 200 and 500 freestyle, while PJ Koerwitz '26 won the 50 and 100 freestyle. Luke Woodhouse '28 added a victory in the 100 breaststroke, and the Lancers closed strong with wins in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.

Gilmour's junior varsity swimmers also posted strong results, highlighted by first-place finishes from Brynn Whitling in the girls 50 freestyle and Charlie Cianciola in the boys 50 and 100 freestyle junior varsity events. 

The sweep capped another successful meet for Gilmour Academy on Senior Day.
