GATES MILLS, Ohio -- Gilmour Academy's Varsity A hockey team captured the MLK Weekend Tournament championship with a dominant 9-1 victory over Meadville Area Senior High School on Sunday, Jan. 18.
The Lancers put together an impressive weekend, scoring 37 goals across five games while allowing just three total goals. Gilmour earned wins against McDowell High School, Meadville, Cathedral Preparatory School and Shaker Heights High School on its way to the tournament title.
Ben Slifko, Teddy Frizzie and Zack Cox were each named to the all-tournament team for their standout performances throughout the weekend.
With the championship win, Gilmour Academy improved to 24-1 on the season. The Lancers will travel next to face Walsh Jesuit High School on Friday, Jan. 23. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. at BAM Arena.
