Swimming: Gilmour Swims Well in Meets During Christmas Break

The varsity swimming program competed in several meets during the Christmas Break. The Lancers first traveled to Lodi to compete in the Stampede Invitational. The girls team earned second overall after recording six top-three finishes. Grace Valenza '20 (pictured on left) won the 100 free, while the 200 free relay of Abby Meyer '21Cate O'Haimhirgin '20, Kylee Radigan '22 and Anna Frank '20 took first. Meyer finished second in the 100 fly and third in the 100 free. The Lancer medley relay of Radigan, O'Haimhirgin, Meyer and Valenza finished second, while the 400 free relay of Taylor Markowski '22, Radigan, Frank and Valenza also took second. For the boys, Matt Vanone '20 (pictured on right) won both the 200 free and the 100 free. Alex Figurella '22 took fourth in the 100 fly and fifth in the 50, as Deaglan Bryant '23 was seventh in the 200 IM and 10th in the 100 breaststroke. 
 
Gilmour opened the new year by hosting the Harley School out of Rochester, N.Y. The girls won the meet by a score of 99-70. Meyer paced the team with two first-place finishes in the 200 free and 100 fly. O'Haimhirgin won the 100 breaststroke and took a close second in the 200 free, while Markowski recorded two second-place finishes in the 500 free and with her personal-best time in the 200 IM. Another notable individual performance was by Gia Parker '23, who swam to two third-place finishes in the 200 free and the 500 free. The girls 200 medley relay of Radigan, O'Haimhirgin, Meyer and Frank took second. For the boys, Vanone turned in another team-leading effort, winning the 100 free and the 100 back, while also swimming on the winning 200 free relay and 400 free relay with Andrew Lewis '23, Bryant and Figurella.
