Three members of the Gilmour Academy boys varsity hockey team were recently named All-Ohio after their season came to a close.
Defenseman Rick Hughes '21 was named All-Ohio Second Team while goaltender Andrew Harrington '21 and forward Kessel Richards '21 both earned Honorable Mention selections.
Hughes played in every game on the campaign and finished with two goals and five assists from his spot on the blue line. He led the team with a +28 plus-minus and only incurred six minutes of penalty time on the season.
"Ricky is a highly skilled defenseman," head coach John Malloy said. "He can shut down the other team's best players as well as move the puck out of trouble and start the offensive attack."
Harrington led Gilmour in the net, leading the team in nearly every goaltending category. His 1.61 goals against average, 254 total saves and .930 save percentage all were the top marks for the Lancers this past season.
"Goaltending is always the most important position on any hockey team," Malloy said. "Andrew gave us a chance to win each time he was in the net. He played with a calm demeanor and confidence which radiated out to the players on the ice with him."
Richards led the team with 17 goals this past season. His seven assists gave him 24 total points, second on the squad. His +24 plus-minus was third on the team, and he also tied for a team high with two shorthanded goals.
"Kessel is a throwback athlete," Malloy said. "He excels at three sports—he is a leader on each of the teams, plays hard with a love of each of his sports and wears his passion on his sleeve."
