Joe Pfundstein ‘84 is in his seventh year as the head coach of the Gilmour Academy Middle School boys basketball team, but his relationship with the school goes back to when he was a Lancer during the early 80s. During that time, he was a member of the varsity golf team. 

Since then, he has been active in the world of coaching for a couple of decades. He began as a CYO football, basketball and baseball coach at St. Rita’s (1989-95) and then as a coach with Solon travel baseball (1995-99). He coached Diamond Boys 18U baseball (2000-01) and has been a Solon Elite 10U softball coach since 2012.

Pfundstein has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Boston College and a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University. For the past 16 years, he has been an attorney at Joseph A. Pfundstein, Attorney at Law. He and his wife of 14 years, Kelly, reside in Solon, Ohio, with their two daughters, Gretchen (13) and Emma (11).  He is the older brother of 19-year Gilmour Academy varsity boys basketball coach David Pfundstein, who is also an alum of Gilmour.
