What a great past few days it's been for the varsity track & field program. First, Tim Diemer '19 (pictured on the right) was named News-Herald Player of the Week for April 25 on the heels of his performances at the Trinity Invitational and the Beachwood Invitational. Next, the Lancers went on to shine in Day 1 of the North Coast League (NCL) Meet held at Padua Franciscan High School on April 30. Diemer was part of the championship 4x800 relay team with Tyler Clark '19, Connor Gerspacher '19 and Nathan Reichard '20 that beat all teams in both divisions with a time of 8:09.60 (second best time in all of OHSAA Division III). Other top male performers in first-day action of the conference championship included Andre Rodgers '21 as the top qualifier in the 100, 200 and 400, as well as Ryan Gondek '19 finishing third in the discus and CJ Johnson '22 finishing fifth in the discus.
For the girls, the 4x800 relay of Katie Engle '19, Jorja Hlifka '20, Mary Lombardo '22 and Nina Padanilam '22 recorded a season-best time of 10:06.99 to earn the conference title. Annika Corcoran '19 and Jocelyn Carter '21 finished one and two, respectively, in the long jump.
